Career History

British American Tobacco Central America & Caribbean

2011-2017 Assistant Engagement Manager

Regional role, supporting Trade Marketing execution model, looking for disruption of non-traditional supply chain, in order to support the profit and volume objectives of the company, whilst ensuring alignment to global and regional strategic vision.

Duties:
 I led a multifunctional team of 6 Security Managers across Central America and Caribbean, with capability to coordinate, implement, and follow-up to actions plans defined and agreed with the Company Board Directors for disruption of non-traditional supply chain.
 I built a strong networking of 5 Service Provider throughout Central America and Caribbean, supporting the execution of the control plans for the flow of cigarettes in both way PSC and SSC, including ports, borders, blind spots, ant smuggling, etc.
 I had the responsibility of analysing the size of the illicit tobacco products trade market, sales forecasting and demand planning in Central America and Caribbean with the objective of understanding the areas of opportunity, focus financial resources and support the performance of TM&D (Volume, SOM, Profit, Price strategy, Brand coverage, etc).
 I was permanent member of the team responsible for analysing the suggested measures by WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, existing legislations and regulations to ensure they work, the penalties were appropriate and act as a deterrent, but also suggest changes and/or modifications if was necessary.
 I promoted the framework for cooperation between countries through Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) which supplemented legislation and regulations in each country, with good achievements and outcomes.

2007-2010 Security Manager

Responsible for providing strategic leadership our staff about the compliance of security policies & protocols. Alignment the company to global and regional Security vision, creating and preserved an environment where employees, visitors and property were safe and well-protected.

Duties:
 I led, developed, tested, trained and implemented the Risk Assessment Management and I ensured compliance to the company and their executives in accordance with the global and local guidelines:
o Business Continuity Management
o Crisis Management
o Executive Protection and Kidnapping
 I reviewed and updated the company’s security manual and emergecy procedures in alignment with modern security guidelines required by Globe House.
 I was responsible to led the Security Committee in Panama with the Local Leadership Team, showing the analysis of all incidents identified, trends, the major risk areas, kind of threats, and agree action plans to rectified it effectively. The number of incidents down in more than 60%.
 Member of EHS Committee, high level awareness of workplace safety through training/retraining, live practice and simulations.
 I implemented the use of CCTV, Alarms systems, and Access card in the company, but also developed the guidelines of alarm responses, monitoring and levels of access.




2003-2006 Area Sales Manager

Accountable for meeting the leadership and management of TM&D (sales goals, sales representatives, merchandisers, routes management, delivery, promotions, brand coverage, and/or other initiatives), demonstrated a satisfactory execution and ensured the productivity and effectiveness in POP´s visits. I supervised all facets of sales, new business development, and made a "turn-around” restructuration going from prompt sale to pre-sale.

Duties:

 I managed and monitored the performance of the following sales areas:

Fully in charge of accomplish of areas achievement, including sales objectives, TM&D execution, Merchandiser implementation, Demand Planning, others.
 I was involved in the successful project to create the Telemarketing Department and participated actively in the researches, tests, restructuration and assessments to hire the Telesales Reps. (Main achievements: helped to building of brand awareness, increased the marketing efficiency, improvement the contact with customers).
 I participated actively in the transformation of distribution model, going from prompt sale to pre-sale. In addition, I led the delivery team nationwide and successfully handled the transition (100% delivered, not return product, follow-up to administrative process of the deliveryman, etc).
 As Key Account Manager, I ensured of maintaining the relationship with accounts and maximising sales opportunities within them, from the point of view of distribution, wasn´t in charge of negotiations.
 In 2015, I was a promptly participation in the project of Third Party Distributor advising the team about vulnerabilities of the areas, the associated risks and how to face them.

2000-2002 Project Manager

I exeuted and supported multiple projects national & international with medium to high complexity in Batca (Maxfli, BPR, Iceberg, Centralized Accounting). I worked with operations subject-matter experts, marketing, business analyst, financials, HR, legal, IT, and audit, replacing manual processes by technology, to improve consistency, productivity, and effectiveness of the company; but the most importantly, save time and money.

Duties:
 Maxfli (Sales Force Automation System): Leader Coordinator of the project in Panama, I led, coordinated, implemented and monitored all phases of the project (Management, Communication, Process & People, Technology).
 BPR (Business Process Reengineering): Full-time support to the development of the project in Nicaragua. Leader Coordinator of the project in Panama, I led, coordinated, implemented and monitored all phases of the project (information gathering, analysis, restructuring, cost benefit, implementation, and PIR).
 Balboa Project (Centralized Accounting): I managed and implemented the partial centralization of accounting processes in Costa Rica, including Payroll, Fixed Assets, Account Payable and Expense Report.
 Iceberg (Secondary Supply Chain optimization): with the support of an international multitask team, we set efficiently integrate suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses, and stores, so that merchandise is produced and distributed at the right quantities, to the right locations, and at the right time, in order to minimize systemwide costs; while satisfying service level requirements.



1997-1999 Logistic Manager

I managed Supply Chain and Distribution, responsible for inventory of 8 regional cigarettes warehouses nationwide, in addition to main warehouse in Panama, including Transportation, Warehousing/Distribution and Inventory Control. Responsible for making the sales forecast for cycle planning and sustain it in the regional meeting of Pre-Sop and Sop.

Duties:

 I managed the delivery of cigarettes from PSC warehouse to SSC warehouse applying forecasting system and automatic distribution by routes.
 I implemented the use of mini-warehouse for all routes nationwide, more efficient, better control and save time and resources.
 I implemented an Interface system that helped us to have daily reports of the movements of inventories, allowing to manage the distribution by mark for each route avoiding stockouts.
 Responsible n only to make the forecasts by Panama market for cycle planning meetings, but also explain and sustain the figures in the meetings of Pre-Sop and Sop in Costa Rica.


1994-1996 Internal Auditor

I provided leadership on audits and evaluated controls over financial and operational processes to ensure compliance with applicable company policies, laws and regulations, including risk assessments of inventory control, account receivable, and administrative process. Reported findings and made appropriate recommendations for improvement of the control.

Duties:

 I performed work on complex or high-risk audit areas as assigned. Reviewed work papers as completed by staff, validating exceptions and the feasibility of suggested resolutions in Panama and El Salvador.
 I completed financial and operational audits nationwide that contained over 2500 stores in El Salvador, and 1600 in Panama.
 I trained the Panama staff in Are You In Control, changed the mindset about Audit job and how gain ownership of the control.
 I conducted investigations of multiple and complex cases of theft nationwide.
 I worked with external auditors and provided coordination for the annual financial statement audit.
